I used Lucas' The Art of Public Speaking (11th Edition with Connect) for my Speech Advice grade at Baruch College. Lucas provides a very articulate guide to public speaking, giving concrete examples of how to arroyo different types of speeches and how to craft and prepare for them. The text is clearly stated, updated to refer to current events and issues, and beautifully illustrated. For those reasons, I call back the volume is valuable.
Merely the biggest negative element is its toll point. Retailing at over $100, the book is simply non affordable for many students at public universities, and asking them to buy it is not ethical, especially when at that place are so many competing options which are all cheaper--some at half the price or less.
